Abstract:
One of the purposes of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a carbon nanofiber composite that can be obtained with high productivity and high activity without the need to remove a flow material or a dispersion material. Also provided is a carbon nanofiber composite that has excellent dispersibility. This method for producing a carbon nanofiber composite includes mechanically agitating a catalyst and a granular carbon material in a reactor and contacting the catalyst and the granular carbon material with a gas that comprises a gaseous carbon-containing compound. This carbon nanofiber composite includes carbon nanofibers and the granular carbon material, the composite satisfying at least one the following conditions: the amount of particles having a particle size of 1 μm or less is 70 volume% or more, and the volume-based median size D50 is 1 μm or less.
