Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the field of metallurgy and essentially relates to methods for producing cathodic nickel from copper- and nickel-containing sulphide raw materials. The method involves separating the fine matte by flotation into copper and nickel concentrates, carrying out an oxidising calcination of the nickel concentrate, reducing the nickel oxide and carrying out an electric extraction of the nickel in baths that include non-soluble anodes, wherein said baths contain a sulphate solution of reduced nickel oxide which has been previously stripped from copper, iron and cobalt impurities. In order to prepare the sulphate solution, the method involves using a reduced nickel oxide which is dissolved in a depleted electrolyte and has an activity of at least 60 %. The non-soluble residue containing precious metals is eventually processed.
