Abstract:
A method for producing a cinnamic acid ester derivative, which is characterized by reacting a cinnamic acid derivative compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein the symbols are as defined in the description) with an alcohol compound represented by general formula R6OH (wherein the symbols are as defined in the description) in the presence of a strongly acidic resin catalyst without using a solvent. The cinnamic acid derivative compound is preferably cinnamic acid, ferulic acid or caffeic acid; and the alcohol compound is preferably methanol, ethanol, propanol, butanol, pentanol, hexanol, ethylene glycol, glycerol, phenethyl alcohol or a monosaccharide.
