Abstract:
Disclosed is a simple method for producing a plant containing sapogenin, which contains a large quantity of sapogenin and has outstanding taste and safety, using a plant containing saponin as the raw material. The method for producing a plant containing sapogenin is a method for producing a composition with a high content of sapogenin, in which a plant containing saponin is subjected to hydrolysis treatment by the action of an aqueous solution of a strong acid with a concentration of 0.01 mol/L to 4 mol/L, the liquid obtained after hydrolysis treatment is neutralized and then filtered, and the residue is dried. The hydrolysis treatment is preferably carried out, for example, in the presence of a lower alcohol.
