Abstract:
Provided is a compressed wood product having a three-dimensional shape including a curve, superior in size stability, and superior in design. A production method comprises a softening step for softening a blank material made of wood and having a substantially bowl shape; a compressing step for applying a compressing force to the blank material softened at the softening step and deforming the blank material into a substantially bowl shape which is different from the shape before the softening step; a fixing step for fixing the shape of the blank material deformed at the compressing step; a drying step for drying the blank material having the shape fixed at the fixing step; and a heat-shaping step for shaping into the shape substantially homothetic with the shape of the blank material while atmospherically heating the blank material dried during the drying step; wherein the shape of the blank material after the drying step and before the heat-shaping step has a shape wherein the shape of the inner side surface of the substantially bowl shape is closer to the final shape to be attained after the heat-shaping step than the shape of the outer side surface, and the surface area of the outer side surface is larger than the surface area of the outer side surface in the final shape.
