Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for efficiently producing an α-alkylstyrene·α-chloroacrylic acid ester copolymer, with a high monomer conversion rate. The copolymer production method according to the present invention is for producing a copolymer in which the content of an α-alkylstyrene unit is 30-70 mol%, and the content of an α-chloroacrylic acid ester unit is 30-70 mol%, and comprises a step for performing solution polymerization of a monomer composition containing an α-alkylstyrene and an α-chloroacrylic acid ester, wherein a ketone is used as a polymerization solvent for the solution polymerization.
