Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING CORE-SHELL CATALYST PARTICLES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/122104
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing core-shell catalyst particles which have high catalytic activity per unit mass of platinum. A method for producing core-shell catalyst particles, each of which comprises a core containing palladium and a shell that contains platinum and covers the core. This method for producing core-shell catalyst particles is characterized by comprising: a step wherein a potential that is higher than the oxidation-reduction potential of copper is applied to palladium-containing particles in a copper ion-containing electrolyte solution, so that copper is deposited on the surface of each palladium-containing particle; and a step wherein a platinum ion-containing solution, which contains platinum ions and a reaction inhibitor that suppresses a substitution reaction between copper and platinum, is brought into contact with the copper deposited on the surface of each palladium-containing particle within a reaction system that is maintained at from -3°C to 10°C (inclusive) after the copper deposition step, so that the copper deposited on the surface of each palladium-containing particle is substituted by platinum, thereby forming the above-described shell.
