A method for producing a corundum crystal, which has a heating and evaporation step of heating a first sample containing a raw material and a flux, to thereby evaporate the flux and precipitate and grow a corundum crystal having a hexagonal bicone shape as its basic shape, and a separation step of separating the corundum crystal from the material remaining after the heating and evaporation step, characterized in that the above heating and evaporation step further comprises a sample supply step of supplying a second sample containing a raw material and a flux to the first sample being heated. The above method allows the practical production of a large corundum crystal at a low cost.
