Abstract:
Provided is a method for efficiently producing a cyclic polyphenylene ether ether ketone composition and a linear polyphenylene ether ether ketone economically in a short time. A method for producing a cyclic polyphenylene ether ether ketone composition and a linear polyphenylene ether ether ketone, wherein: (i) from 1.20 liters to 100 liters (inclusive) of an organic polar solvent is used per 1.0 mole of a benzene ring component in a reaction mixture; and (ii) sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate, or alternatively a base mixture of sodium carbonate and/or sodium bicarbonate and at least one salt that is selected from among carbonates and bicarbonates of alkali metals having a larger atomic number than sodium is used as a base.
