Abstract:
Deuterium-depleted water having lowered concentration of heavy water and semi-heavy water can be easily produced within a short period of time by using the fact that light water is desorbed from a definite adsorbent at a higher initial speed than heavy water and semi-heavy water. A method for producing deuterium-depleted water by removing heavy water and semi-heavy water from water, said method being characterized by comprising a desorption step for reducing the relative pressure around a definite adsorbent, which has adsorbed water vapor, and then collecting the water vapor desorbed from the adsorbent during a period wherein the desorption speed of light water exceeds the desorption speed of heavy water and semi-heavy water.
