Abstract:
According to the present invention, water is easily and inexpensively separated into deuterium-depleted water having a low deuterium concentration and deuterium-enriched water having a high deuterium concentration. This method is for separating water into deuterium-depleted water and deuterium-enriched water and is characterized by comprising: supplying and passing water vapor for a prescribed period of time through an adsorbent that comprises a porous body having pores 6 so as to be adsorbed; recovering deuterium-enriched water containing much heavy water 8 from the water vapor not adsorbed on the adsorbent; and recovering deuterium-depleted water containing much light water 7 from the water vapor adsorbed on the adsorbent.
