Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to improve the heat resistance of a hydrocarbon-based anion exchange membrane which has a quaternary salt group such as a quaternary ammonium salt group as an anion exchange group. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a diaphragm for a solid polymer fuel cell, which is characterized in that a hydrous solution of a polymerizable composition is brought into contact with a porous membrane so that the pores of the porous membrane are filled with the hydrous solution of a polymerizable composition and then the polymerizable composition is polymerized and cured therein, said polymerizable composition containing a polymerizable monomer that has an aromatic hydrocarbon group to which a quaternary salt group such as a quaternary ammonium salt group is bonded, preferably [4-(4-vinylphenyl)-butyl]-trimethyl ammonium bromide, a crosslinkable polymerizable monomer and a polymerization initiator.
