Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING AN ELONGATED (BI, PB)SCCO SUPERCONDUCTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003019687
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing an elongated, preferably strip-type (Bi, Pb)SCCO superconductor, according to which an oxidic precursor powder, which primarily contains a tetragonal BSCCO 2212 phase and a plumbate phase as the doping material, is used. Said precursor powder is introduced into a sleeve consisting of a precious metal alloy, in which between approximately 0.5 and 4 atom % of a base metal is dissolved. The conductor intermediate product, consisting of the precursor powder and sleeve, is annealed in a protective gas atmosphere with a low oxygen content. The phase transition of the tetragonal BSCCO 2212 phase into an orthorhombic, lead-doped (Bi, Pb)SCCO 2212 phase, which occurs during annealing, is accompanied by a release of oxygen, which causes an internal oxidation of the precious metal sleeve. The dispersion-hardened sleeve thus produced exhibits several advantages during subsequent thermomechanical treatment.
