Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing microfibrous cellulose having a phosphite group, which can provide a microfibrous cellulose liquid dispersion having improved transparency. The present invention relates to a method for producing fibrous cellulose, comprising a step of mixing a cellulose raw material with a compound having a phosphite group and/or a salt thereof and urea and/or a urea derivative to produce a phosphitylated cellulose raw material and a step of subjecting the phosphitylated cellulose raw material to a pulverization treatment to produce fibrous cellulose having a fiber width of 1000 nm or less and having a phosphite group, wherein, in the step of producing the phosphitylated cellulose raw material, the decomposition rate of the urea and/or the urea derivative is 90% or less.
