Disclosed is method for producing fine resin particles which are used as particles for a display medium used in an information display panel in which a display medium composed of particles for a display medium is sealed between two substrates, at least one of which is transparent, and information such as an image is displayed by applying an electrical field to the display medium so as to induce the movement of the display medium.  In the method, fine resin particles having a methylol group and a functional group reactive with a methylol group are fired in order to induce the reaction of the methylol group and thereby give fine resin particles that have an improved charge-retaining ability. Consequently, the method for producing fine resin particles is capable of producing fine resin particles which can be used as child particles suitable for improving of durability of an information display panel and improving the electrostatic performance of the particles for a display medium, said resin fine particles being capable of suppressing charge loss in the display medium after being electrostatically charged and maintaining a certain charge or higher for a long time.  Fine resin particles are also disclosed.
