Disclosed is a method for producing a fired ceramic body, by which a fired body having a large shrinkage during the firing (firing shrinkage) is able to be produced without deteriorating the molded shape thereof such as a honeycomb shape. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing a fired ceramic body comprising a step of firing a molded body, which is characterized in that the linear shrinkage of the dimensions of the fired body relative to the dimensions of the molded body (linear shrinkage (%) = (dimensions of molded body - dimensions of fired body)/(dimensions of molded body) × 100) is not less than 1% and the molded body is arranged on a spherical particle layer and fired thereon.
