Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a fluorine-containing polymer, which enables the production of a fluorine-containing polymer with high productivity and is suitable for the production on an industrial scale, and in which the fluorine-containing polymer produced can have a relatively high molecular weight and a fluorine-containing polymer containing a TFE-derived constituent unit at an extremely large content is rarely produced as an impurity.
A method for producing a fluorine-containing polymer, which comprises carrying out polymerization using at least a fluorine-containing monomer (C) and TFE, wherein the fluorine-containing monomer (C) has, at ambient pressure, a higher boiling point than those of one or more fluorine-containing solvents (B) each having a boiling point of 60˚C or lower at ambient pressure, and wherein the polymerization is carried out in a polymerization solvent comprising the one or more fluorine-containing solvents (B) in the presence of specific four types of organic peroxides at a temperature that is equal to or higher than the boiling point, at ambient temperature, of one of the fluorine-containing solvents (B), which is a fluorine-containing solvent having the lowest boiling point at ambient temperature among the fluorine-containing solvents (B), and is equal to or lower than 70˚C in a container in which a monomer can be polymerized under pressurized conditions.
