Abstract:
Method for producing a gamma radiation source. The starting point is a suitable metal powder, such as iridium or cobalt, which may optionally be enriched. This powder is melted to form small spheres with the aid of an arc. These spheres are flattened to form small disks, which, after they have been irradiated, are remelted, in this case using an arc, to form a small sphere. In this way, it is possible to obtain a punctiform gamma radiation source with a high intensity.
