A method for producing a glass article, the method including a forming step in which by a downdraw method, a first molten glass Gm1 containing TiO2 is caused to flow down along surfaces of a shaped object 15 including a yttrium-containing oxide to thereby form a glass ribbon G, wherein the shaped object 15 has a surface including an Mg-rich layer MR that contains magnesium.
