Abstract:
Provided is a method that makes it possible to stably produce a glass material containing no crystals by containerless levitation. A glass material 30 comprises a first surface 31 facing a molding surface 10a and a second surface 32 positioned on the opposite side from the molding surface 10a. The first surface 31 comprises a central section 31a and a peripheral section 31b positioned on the outside of the central section 31. Gas is jetted out from a gas jetting hole at a flow speed and a flow rate that cause a glass material satisfying R2 < R3 < R1 to be formed when the radius of curvature of the central section 31a is denoted by R1, the radius of curvature of the peripheral section 31b is denoted by R2, and the radius of curvature of the second surface 32 is denoted by R3.
