Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for the saccharification of pulp fibers contained in used absorbent articles to obtain a saccharified solution containing glucose, wherein the saccharification efficiency of pulp fibers is improved without hindering saccharification. This method comprises: a step for extracting a mixture of pulp fibers, super absorbent polymer and water from used absorbent articles; a step of using a pair of electrodes to apply a voltage to the mixture of pulp fibers, super absorbent polymer and water, thereby deactivating the super absorbent polymer; and a step of introducing oxygen to the mixture of pulp fibers, deactivated super absorbent polymer and water, thereby saccharifying the pulp fibers with oxygen to obtain a saccharified solution containing glucose.
