Abstract:
Provided are: a method for producing a hemiformal concentrate by reducing the amount of formaldehyde contained in water that is separated by evaporative dehydration of an aqueous hemiformal solution and by reducing the amount of water contained in a hemiformal concentrate; and a method for producing a formaldehyde gas from the hemiformal concentrate that is obtained by the above-described method.
A specific alcohol is used as an alcohol (A) when the alcohol (A) and an aqueous formaldehyde solution (B) are reacted so as to generate an aqueous hemiformal solution, and the pressure conditions under which water is evaporated from the aqueous hemiformal solution are regulated within specific ranges.
