Abstract:
Provided is a method by which an N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide can be efficiently purified to produce a highly polymerizable N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer. This method for producing a highly polymerizable N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer is characterized by comprising: (A) a step (step (A)) in which a crude N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer containing 50-88 mass% of an N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer is melted by raising the temperature, then cooling is performed to cause precipitation (cooling crystallization), and the precipitated N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer crystals are subjected to solid-liquid separation; and (B) a step (step (B)) in which the N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer crystals separated in step (A) are dissolved in a mixed solvent of 1,2-dimethoxyethane and C6-C7 aliphatic hydrocarbon, then crystallization (solvent crystallization) is performed, and solid-liquid separation is performed to collect a purified product of the N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer, wherein the mass ratio of 1,2-dimethoxyethane/N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer crystals in step (B) is 0.01-0.5, and the mass ratio of C6-C7 aliphatic hydrocarbon/N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide monomer crystals in step (B) is 0.5-3.0.
