Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a method for obtaining hydrogen or deuterium with high efficiency or hydrogenating or deuterating an organic compound; a device for use in the method; and others. Provided are: a method for producing hydrogen or deuterium by subjecting water or heavy water to a mechanochemical reaction in the presence of a catalyst metal, said method being characterized in that such an energy density that the speed of acceleration generated by rotating is 75 G or more is applied to water or heavy water for 25 minutes or longer; a method for producing a hydrogenated or deuterated organic compound; a method for hydrogenating or deuterating an organic compound; a method for dehalogenating an organic compound having a halogen; and a ball for use in a mechanochemical reaction.
