Abstract:
Provided is a novel method for producing a linear alkoxytitanic acid phosphoric acid polymer which does not comprise chlorine in any form without using hydrochloric acid. This method for producing a linear alkoxytitanic acid phosphoric acid polymer is characterized in that a phosphoric acid or an alkylphosphate ester is added to an alcohol solution of an alkoxytitanic acid in the absence of water and mineral acids to start chain transfer polymerization, and when viscosity of the polymerization product liquid reaches 1.0×104 cP, polymerization is stopped, for example, by stopping the addition of the phosphoric acid or the alkylphosphate ester and cooling the same, and the product liquid is dissolved in water or an organic solvent, in particular, an isopropyl alcohol, methanol, or methanol/water mixed solvent.
