Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a lithium cobalt oxide oriented sintered plate, the method comprising the steps of (a) preparing a green sheet including Co3O4 particles, (b) firing the green sheet to obtain a Co3O4 oriented sintered plate, and (c) firing the Co3O4 oriented sintered plate in the presence of a lithium source to introduce lithium, thereby forming a lithium cobalt oxide oriented sintered plate including LiCoO2, the method further comprising the step of (d1) attaching, prior to step (c), an Mg-containing compound to the Co3O4 oriented sintered plate, or (d2) attaching, after step (c), an Mg-containing compound to the lithium cobalt oxide oriented sintered plate and firing the lithium cobalt oxide oriented sintered plate to which the Mg-containing compound has been attached. The method of the present invention allows for the production of a lithium cobalt oxide oriented sintered plate such that grain boundaries present in the plate thickness direction are significantly reduced and such that improvements in battery performance (in particular, rate capability) when used as a cathode active material in a lithium secondary battery can be achieved.
