Abstract:
A method (50) of producing a live aquaculture feed is provided. The method includes providing (52) a plurality of cysts having a catalyst on a surface thereof, incubating (54) the cysts in a liquid medium to hatch a portion of the cysts and release a plurality of live food organisms, reacting (58) the catalyst on the surface of the cysts with a gas-producing reagent to generate a plurality of bubbles that cause unhatched cysts and cyst shells to surface, and separating (60) the live food organisms from the unhatched cysts and the cyst shells that surface.
