Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a lower olefin, said method comprising a contacting step of bringing a raw material containing at least one component selected from the group consisting of methanol and dimethyl ether into contact with a zeolite-containing molded catalyst in a reactor, wherein the raw material contains the above-mentioned at least one component selected from the group consisting of methanol and dimethyl ether in an amount of 10% by mass or more relative to the whole amount of the raw material and the zeolite in the zeolite-containing molded catalyst satisfies the requirements (1) to (4): (1) the zeolite is intermediate pore-size zeolite; (2) the zeolite contains substantially no proton; (3) the zeolite contains silver; and (4) the zeolite has a silica alumina molar ratio (a SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio) of 800 to 2000 inclusive.
