Abstract:
This method for producing a metal-carbon fiber composite material comprises the steps of: coating a surface (10a) of a metal foil (10) with a coating liquid (5) containing carbon fibers (1) using a gravure coating device (20) to obtain a coated foil (12) in which a carbon fiber layer (11) is formed on the surface (10a) of the metal foil (10); forming a laminate in which a plurality of coated foils (12) are laminated; and heating the laminate while applying pressure in a direction in which the coated foils (12) are laminated in order to bond and integrate the coated foils (12). The gravure coating device (20) has a gravure roll (21) with cup-shaped cells (22) on the circumferential surface (21a) thereof. The diameter of a circle inscribed in the opening shape of the cells (22) is set 1.2 times greater than the average fiber length of the carbon fibers (1).
