Abstract:

Disclosed is a method for producing metal fine particles wherein an aqueous solution containing amines having reducing powder and an ammonium salt substantially having no reducing power is used for reducing metal ions by the amines in the presence of the ammonium salt, thereby producing rod-shaped metal fine particles. Also disclosed are metal fine particles which are characterized by being produced by such a method for producing metal fine particles and having a major axis of not more than 400 nm, a minor axis of not more than 15 nm, and an aspect ratio of more than 1.
