Provided is a method of producing a mold for lens wherein the upper surface of a glass material to be molded is molded by a thermally drooping molding method using a continuous heating furnace. A mold having a curvature distribution on the molding surface is used, the mold passing through the furnace is repeatedly or intermittently rotated by 360 degrees in the horizontal direction, the highest temperature direction from the geometric center of the molding surface to the highest temperature point is determined in one or more regions in the furnace by measuring the temperature at a plurality of measuring points on the molding surface directly or indirectly, and the mold is rotated by 360 degrees such that the rotational angular speed during the period when the mold is included in the region wherein the highest temperature direction has been specified decreases as the curvature increases on the molding surface.
