Abstract:
Method for producing an oil control piston ring, wherein a main part (2) is provided with a running surface profile by mechanically machining the radially outer peripheral surface of the main part, the running surface profile containing two running surface ribs (3, 4) and a groove (8) lying thereinbetween and the running surface profile corresponding to that of the finished oil control piston ring; introducing drainage bores (16) in the groove base (15) on the groove end; providing at least the running surface ribs with a wear-resistant PVD, DLC or TaC layer; and polishing, honing or lapping the wear-resistant (9, 10) layer as required.
