Abstract:

Provided are a method for producing an oil adsorbent, which has excellent oil adsorption properties and can be produced by continuously carbonizing a starting material to be carbonized such as rice hulls, and an oil or gas adsorbent produced by this production method. A method for producing an oil or gas adsorbent comprising a charcoal, wherein said charcoal is obtained by feeding a starting material to be carbonized to the inner space of a kiln, which is provided with an inlet and an outlet and in the inner space of which a series of procedures of drying and heat decomposition (carbonization) of the starting material to be carbonized and heat storage is conducted in this order, then indirectly heating the starting material to be carbonized, that has been fed into the inner space, in a reducing atmosphere without introducing oxygen from the outside and, at the same time, storing heat in the rice hulls to thereby lower the moisture content, and then indirectly heat-decomposing the starting material to be carbonized to thereby carbonize the same.
