Abstract:
Provided are: a method for producing an olefin dimer, said method containing a step for performing a dimerization reaction on an olefin containing a C4-10 olefin in the presence of an olefin dimerization catalyst which contains a compound (B) represented by BnX (in the formula: B denotes Na or K; X denotes CO3, SO4, SiO3, F, Cl, or Br; and n denotes an integer of 1 or 2 determined in accordance with the valence of X) and an alkali metal (D), the alkali metal (D) content falling within a specific range; and an olefin dimerization catalyst in which the pore diameter and pore volume of compound (B) fall within specific ranges.
