Abstract:
A method for producing an α-olefin oligomer composition, which comprises a step of reacting an α-olefin in the presence of hydrogen using a specific catalyst. The method for producing an α-olefin oligomer composition enables reduction of the amount of the catalyst, and can produce a trimer, tetramer and pentamer with high selectivity. An α-olefin oligomer obtained by the method is suitable for use as a component of a lubricating oil.
