Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a one-end-functional organopolysiloxane represented by general formula (1) (the R1 moieties are each independently an alkyl group or a phenyl group and A is a hydrogen atom or a group represented by general formula (2) (Y is a single bond or a divalent organic group and the wavy line indicates a bond) or general formula (3) (R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and Y and the wavy line are the same as defined above) from a cyclopolysiloxane having 3-5 silicon atoms as a starting material, wherein the reaction liquid being polymerized is analyzed for conversion by near-infrared spectroscopy and the reaction is terminated at the time when the conversion has reached 60-95%. Thus, the reaction is terminated at the optimal conversion when producing a one-end-functional organopolysiloxane, thereby obtaining a one-end-functional organopolysiloxane having a high purity.
