Abstract:
An optically active helical polymer is obtained at low cost by asymmetric polymerization wherein an optically active organic nickel complex is used as the symmetric polymerization catalyst. By this method, the optically active helical polymer can be produced in a short polymerization time at room temperature. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an optically active helical polymer comprising a step for polymerizing (A) an aromatic compound or an aromatic heterocyclic compound with (B) a nickel compound in the presence of (C) a ligand, and a step for mixing the reaction product with (D) a diisonitrile compound having an isonitril group at each of two adjacent unsaturated carbons for polymerizing the diisonitrile compound. This method for producing an optically active helical polymer is characterized in that at least one of (A) the aromatic compound or an aromatic heterocyclic compound and (C) the ligand is optically active.
