Abstract:
Provided are: a novel iridium (III) complex that is chiral; and a production method wherein a 2-substituted-quinoline is converted into an optically active 2-substituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline with use of a chiral iridium (III) complex by economical and easily operable processes.
A method for producing an optically active 2-substituted-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline represented by formula [II], which is characterized by reducing a quinoline compound represented by formula [I] in the presence of a hydrogen-donating compound and an iridium (III) complex that has a chiral proline amide compound as a ligand.
