Abstract:
The present invention is a method for producing an organic solvent dispersion of titanium oxide particles by dispersing titanium oxide particles in an organic solvent other than methanol and ethanol, wherein the method includes: (a) a surface treatment step in which an alcohol dispersion of the titanium oxide particles, which is obtained by dispersing the titanium oxide particles in at least one alcohol solvent selected from methanol and ethanol, is treated with a surface treatment agent containing a silane coupling agent and 12-hydroxystearic acid; and (b) a solvent substitution step for substituting the abovementioned alcohol solvent, which is the dispersion medium in the surface-treated alcohol dispersion of titanium oxide particles, with an organic solvent other than the alcohol solvent; the silane coupling agent being represented by general formula (I) (RO)n-Si-X4-n…(I) (R is a C1-4 alkyl group, n is 2 or 3, and X is an alkyl group, fluorinated alkyl group, vinyl group, or (meth)acryloyloxyalkyl group).
