Abstract:
The purpose of this invention is to provide a sulfuric electrode active material with which it is possible to obtain a nonaqeous electrolyte rechargeable battery with a large capacity and with minimal deterioration in cycle characteristics, even if the electrode active material is a sulfuric electrode active material and aluminum foil or the like is used as a collector. This invention pertains to a method for producing an organo-sulfur electrode active material comprising: a step in which an organic compound and sulfur are heated to obtain an organo-sulfur compound; and a step in which the organo-sulfur compound is treated with a basic compound. The organo-sulfur compound is preferably sulfur-modified polyacrylonitrile, and the basic compound is preferably ammonia. It is also possible to treat the organo-sulfur compound, after crushing, with the basic compound, and the organo-sulfur compound may be crushed in a medium containing the basic compound.
