Abstract:
This method for producing an outer joint member (1) having a cup part (2), one end of which is open, and having a plurality of track grooves (5) that extends in the axial direction disposed on the inner diameter surface (4) of the cup part (2) comprises: a pre-forging step in which an intermediate forged product (1"), which has a cup-shaped section (2") with track grooves crudely formed on the inner diameter surface thereof, is obtained from a rod-shaped material; and an ironing step in which ironing is performed on the cup-shaped section (2"), and a final forged product (1'), which has a cup-shaped section (2') in which track grooves having a finished form are formed, is obtained. When ironing is performed on the cup-shaped section (2') in the ironing step, acceptance/rejection reference parts (12, 13) for visually determining whether to accept or reject the cup depth (D) are die-molded.
