Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a molten ingot of a platinum group metal or a platinum group-based alloy each having a high material yield by preventing the occurrence of a scattering phenomenon upon heating/melting in a process for producing the platinum group metal or the platinum group-based alloy. A method for producing a platinum group metal or a platinum group-based alloy according to the present invention comprises: a compounding step of weighing a raw material which has a partially or wholly powdery form and, when the alloy is to be produced, then mixing the weighed raw material to produce a powder mix; a molding step of molding and solidifying the weighed raw material to produce molded materials; a sintering step of sintering the molded materials to produce sintered materials; a melting step of melting the sintered materials to produce a molten ingot; and a deformation processing step of processing the molten ingot. In the sintering step, the multiple molded materials are laminated and then sintered to produce a sintered body that is a bonded body.
