Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing a plurality of teeth from one isolated tooth germ in order to increase the overall number of tooth germs which can be used for transplantation. The present invention relates to a method for producing teeth. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for producing a plurality of teeth from one isolated tooth germ including an epithelial-tissue layer and a mesenchymal-tissue layer, said method being characterized by including: (a) a step in which the one isolated tooth germ including the epithelial-tissue layer and the mesenchymal-tissue layer is entirely or partially divided, said division being characterized in that each divided tooth-germ part is divided so as to include a portion of the epithelial-tissue layer and a portion of the mesenchymal-tissue layer; and (b) a step in which a plurality of teeth are formed by either culturing the divided tooth germ in vitro, or culturing the divided tooth germ in vivo in a non-human animal.
