The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a method for producing a polarizing plate with which adhesion between a polarizer and an optical anisotropic layer is good, and for which optical stability is excellent when used with an image display device; a method for producing an optical film; and a polymerizable liquid crystal composition. This method for producing a polarizing plate includes a layer formation step for forming, on a base material, a liquid crystalline composition layer comprising: a liquid crystalline compound having a polymerizable group that includes an ethylenically unsaturated bond; and a polymerizable liquid crystal composition containing a photopolymerization initiator. The method also includes: a semi-curing step for curing the liquid crystalline composition layer and forming a semi-cured layer that satisfies a prescribed curing profile; a bonding step for bonding the polarizer and the semi-cured layer using an ultraviolet radiation curing type adhesive so as to produce a layered product in which the polarizer, the ultraviolet radiation curing type adhesive, the semi-cured layer and the base material are layered in that order; and a main curing step for curing the layered product so as to produce a polarizing plate having the polarizer and an optically anisotropic layer obtained by further curing the semi-cured layer.
