Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing a polyarylene which is characterized in that only a dihalobiphenyl compound represented by the formula (1) below, or a dihalobiphenyl compound represented by the formula (1) below and an aromatic compound represented by the formula (2) below or an aromatic compound represented by the formula (3) below are polymerized in the presence of catalytic amounts of a divalent nickel compound, a trivalent phosphorus ligand and zinc. (1) (In the formula, A represents an alkoxy group having 1-20 carbon atoms or the like; R1 represents a fluorine atom or the like; X1 representsa chlorine atom or the like; and k represents an integer of 0-3.) (2) X3-Ar5-X3 (3) (In the formulae, a, b and c respectively represent 0 or 1; n represents an integer not less than 5; Ar1, Ar2, Ar3, Ar4 and Ar5 respectively represent a divalent aromatic group; Y1 and Y2 respectively represent a single bond or the like; Z1 and Z2 respectively represent -O- or -S-; and X2 and X3 respectively represent a chlorine atom or the like.)
