Abstract:
The method according to the present invention for producing a polythiol compound comprises a step for reacting a compound represented by general formula (3) with sodium sulfide to give a polyalcohol compound represented by formula (4), and a step for reacting the polyalcohol compound represented by formula (4) thus obtained with a thia agent to give a polythiol compound, wherein the absorbance of a 17.3 wt% aqueous solution of the aforesaid sodium sulfide is not greater than 0.70 at a wavelength of 350 nm when measured using a quartz cell having an optical path length of 50 mm.
