METHOD FOR PRODUCING POROUS SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS AND FINISHED ARTICLES FROM POWDERS OF ALUMINIUM ALLOYS AND VARIANTS

Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the field of sintering techniques and can be used in the production of materials for the building industry, for aviation, for motor vehicle construction and for the construction of lifts. The powders of aluminium alloys are mixed with porophores having a decomposition temperature which is higher than the solidus-liquidus temperature of the aluminium alloy powder. The mixture thus obtained is poured into a vessel made of aluminium alloy and is submitted to a preliminary compaction, and the vessel with the compacted mixture is heated at a temperature which is 10 to 20° C lower than the solidus temperature of the most fusible component of the aluminium alloy. The method further involves hot-pressing the preform and re-heating the pressed preform at a temperature which is 10 to 20° C lower than the solidus temperature of the most fusible component of the aluminium alloy. The preform is then submitted to a hot-deformation process, is cooled down and is submitted to a high-temperature thermal processing in the mould where the preform is submitted to an uniform and omnidirectional heating at a temperature which is 40 to 70° C higher than the solid-liquid phase transition temperature, the preform being eventually cooled down. According to a second embodiment of the method, the hot-deformation process of the pressed preform is carried out by rolling the same in order to give it the shape of a sheet, while before the high-temperature thermal processing said preform is heated at a temperature of 350 to 450° C and maintained at this temperature for 90 to 120 minutes before being shaped into a finished product. According to a third embodiment and before the high-temperature thermal processing, the pressed preform is obtained in the form of a bar. This invention increases the output and widens the range of acceptable porous semi-finished products and finished articles.
