Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery capable of producing a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery having high crystalline purity and high capacity by performing calcination while suppressing production costs, and also provides a heat treatment apparatus. The method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for a lithium ion secondary battery includes a mixing step (S10) of mixing lithium carbonate and a compound including a metal element other than Li and a calcining step (S20). The calcining step (S20) includes two or more stages controlled to mutually different heat treatment temperatures, and in the stage controlled to a low temperature, the calcination is performed by controlling oxygen concentration to a level lower than that in the stage controlled to a high temperature. The heat treatment apparatus (1) comprises two or more calcination furnaces (10A, 10B) controlled to mutually different heat treatment temperatures, and a gas outlet of the calcination furnace (10B) controlled to a high temperature communicates with the calcination furnace (10A) controlled to a low temperature.
