Abstract:
This method for producing purified monofluoromethane includes a treatment step of bringing crude monofluoromethane that contains at least trifluoromethane into contact with a trifluoromethane-treating fluid that contains both an amide represented by general formula (1) and a base. In the general formula, R1, R2 and R3 are each independently a hydrogen atom or alkyl, or may be bonded to each other to form a ring wherein a ring carbon atom may be replaced by an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom or a sulfur atom. By virtue of the treatment step, monofluoromethane which is substantially free from trifluoromethane can be obtained from trifluoromethane -containing monofluoromethane. Incidentally, the boiling point of trifluoromethane is close to that of monofluoromethane, so that both cannot be efficiently separated from each other by distillation.
