Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for producing a self-forming optical waveguide. A photocurable resin and two multicore fibers, each of which has n cores (n is a natural number of 2 or more), are prepared. The photocurable resin contains: a core part forming resin which is polymerized and cured when light within a specific wavelength range is incident thereon, and which has a refractive index na; and a cladding part forming resin which is polymerized and cured when light that has a higher intensity than the light that is incident on the core part forming resin is incident thereon, and which has a refractive index nb after curing, the refractive index nb satisfying nb < na. The two multicore fibers are arranged so as to face each other; and the photocurable resin is arranged between the multicore fibers. Light from the cores of the two multicore fibers is caused to be incident on the photocurable resin, thereby forming a core part. Subsequently, light is caused to be incident on the core part so that light leakage to the cladding part forming resin occurs, thereby polymerizing and curing the cladding part forming resin around the core part so as to form a cladding part.
